If you have ever been to visit our Na'alehu shop, you may have heard one of our beekeepers or shop keeps talk about "the message". There's wisdom in the whispers the bees share with us as beekeepers- we've come to call this insight the message. We try to share this design with each of you who come to our shop, and hope you are open to listening.
Communion with honeybees is a sacred and special union between beekeeper and honeybee. When we work with bees, they share special suggestions with us. Honeybees sing songs, bark, chirp, hold hands and express themselves in unique and individual ways, yet work together as one.
Life inside the colony is not perfect, it can be very chaotic and just like us the bees need to adapt and bend so that they may thrive. The bees have faced difficult challenges lately, locally and globally. Part of our historic relationship with them has become bastardized and corrupted. As consumers we have come to think of the bees as in service to us, excusing our behaviour and poor stewardship.
The bees are opting out of that partnership with us, as evidenced by the collapse of commercial apiculture. However, the bees have found themselves in the hands of new beekeepers, and changing philosophies. An explosion of backyard beekeepers has changed the nation and the world. The bees now find themselves trusting in us, once more to listen to the message that they have for us.
The message is simple and sweet. Share with one another and work together as our strength comes from both our individuality and our abilty to connect with each other.
From time to time, ill share the messages the bees have for us here ,so that we might all connect, work together and celebrate our indivduality to make this world the best of all our hopes and dreams.
